My husband and I went on a little anniversary weekend getaway (baby came too of course), and I ended up crying in the fitting room trying to find jeans that would fit my new mom bod. I had been exclusively nursing for 6 months, working out 4-6 days a week, and was nourishing my body well (I am a dietitian after all).
I thought for sure that I would "bounce back" so easily after having my baby- LIKE SOCIETY WANTS US TO BELIEVE. The reality is that ~many~ lactating moms might hold on to weight a little more because of the hormones needed to make milk. Not to mention, our body went through so many changes in 9 months of pregnancy + so many changes in early postpartum.
I knew that there had to be a way to still see health improvements in my body while maintaining my milk supply, but not sacrificing my mental wellbeing in the process by trying to "fit" into society standards.
This is where Postpartum Principles began, my signature postpartum nutrition course to help mamas feel confident in their postpartum self by focusing on 5 main diet and lifestyle principles.
